Before moving to Sanibel Island Robert Klotz worked at the E. A. Chase School of Fresco and Theatrical Scenery Painting in Osage, New Jersey. He and his wife, Virginia, both natives of Philadelphia, moved to Sanibel Island in 1956, opening the Sea Gulf Studios on Gulf Drive.
