Emile Roure traveled widely, painting in Columbia, the Bahamas, Mexico, Europe and in Florida. During the Spanish American War he worked as a staff artist for the Associated Press in the Philippines. In the States Roure was best known for his Grand Canyon scenes. In 1937 Roure was teaching at the National School of Fine and Applied Art in Washington, D.C. The following year he opened a studio in Palm Springs, California. From 1944 to 1949 Roure ran the Miami Art School at 1822 Biscayne Boulevard. In Miami he devoted one day a week to working with handicapped children.
