Ulrich Fisher (name changed from Fischer to Fisher while living in Daytona Beach) was a marine painter and the husband of artist Irmgard Fisher. In 1937 the Fischer’s opened Fischer Studios, in the Lakeview Arcade at the west end of Royal Palm Way near the bridge, in Palm Beach. Ulrich did large murals for the cocktail lounge of the Coral Gables Biltmore Hotel, the Bradley Club in Palm Beach ( a popular gambling casino), and four large paintings for the Buffalo Avenue Baptist Church in Tampa.

The Daytona Beach Sunday News Journal, January 21, 1940, contains the following on Fischer, who at the time was still spelling his name Fischer, “Ulrich Fischer, who will present landscapes, marine studies and a fascinating exhibit of silk murals, was born in Germany near the Baltic and spent most of his life either near or on the ocean, accounting as he says, for his love of marine landscapes. Fischer has studied and exhibited in various prominent continental schools and galleries. He became dissatisfied with life in Germany and came to the United States. In Buenos Aires, Argentina he was awarded the Gold Medal of the National Society of Decorative Arts.” The Fisher’s later moved to Fort Lauderdale.
