A native of Tennessee, Louise Isom moved to Sarasota in 1931 and immediately joined the young Sarasota Art Association (founded 1926) as secretary. In 1937 Isom was a participant in the evening sketch classes held at the Ringling School of Art. An active member of the club Isom frequently serving as hostess at member art exhibits, occasionally writing articles on art for the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. A skilled silhouette artist, during World War II Isom presented nearly 1500 silhouettes to servicemen who were training in Sarasota.
