Norman Osborne, New Smyrna Street scene, oil Masonite, 17 by 13 3/4 inches. 

One of the first artists in New Smyrna Beach, Norman Osborne was partners with illustrator George Varian in the firm of Varin and Osborne until 1923. Likely a commercial art enterprise, where Osborne worked before coming to Florida is unknown, but he began painting in New Smyrna Beach and Daytona in the 1920’s. In 1937 he was chairman of the Federal Art Gallery in New Smyrna. He is listed in Falk, 1999. Education: National Academy of Design, New York City.
