The Orr’s, from Springdale, Pennsylvania, were artists who visited Florida in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, painting delicate Florida watercolor landscapes. The Daytona Daily News, March 11, 1909, notes, “Messrs. C. S. and R.G. Orr of Springfield, Pa., arrived at The Ferndale on Saturday and were joyfully welcomed to Kingston again by their many warm friends here. The Tampa Tribune, January 28, 1913, noticed that R. G. Orr of Springdale, Pa. was at the Arcade Hotel. Lewis Gift and Art Stores in Tampa advertised in the March 15, 1941, Tampa Tribune: “Original Water Colors. Paintings by the celebrated artist, C.S. Orr, in our window. Exquisitely beautiful. $2.50 size with box frame, only 79 cents. $3.50 size with box frame, only 99 cents. Only a few left at this price.”
